Online Seminar on “Career Pathways in Design” Held on May 24, 2025
The INSIGHT Centre for Design, Technology and Creative Arts, Kochi successfully conducted an online seminar titled “Career Pathways in Design” on 24th May 2025. The seminar aimed to raise awareness among graduates about the possibilities and potential of design education and its diverse career opportunities.
The session was led by two eminent speakers:
- Prof. A P Kuttykrishnan, Former Pro-Vice Chancellor, Kannur University
- Prof. Sasi Menon, Chief Design Officer, Infinity Lifespaces and Board of Studies Member, National Institute of Design, Madhya Pradesh
The seminar attracted participation from over 50 students across the country, including attendees from IITs and various engineering institutions.
Prof. Sasi Menon provided an insightful overview of design education in India, discussing its evolution, relevance, and growing career opportunities. He emphasized that design is no longer a niche discipline but a strategic necessity, offering wide-ranging professional avenues in both traditional and emerging sectors.
Prof. A P Kuttykrishnan, drawing from his extensive academic experience, spoke about the growing significance of design education in Kerala, particularly in the context of the state’s shifting academic landscape. He highlighted the relevance of bridging programs like the 1-year Post Graduate Program (PGP) offered by INSIGHT as a valuable initiative to nurture future-ready designers from diverse educational backgrounds.
The seminar also featured an engaging Q&A session where the speakers addressed participants’ questions regarding design education, specializations, and career pathways.
The session was moderated by Ms. Aneena Alex, Associate Faculty at INSIGHT Centre for Design, Technology and Creative Arts.
